NEXT STEPS MINISTRY

Ministry Purpose

The Next Steps Ministry seeks to create an atmosphere that encourages Christian growth and confidence by affirming the foundational principles stated in God’s word and fostering Christian relationships. Our goal is to assist the believer in their understanding of Salvation, assuring their right to eternal life and their ability to navigate worldly challenges by applying the word of God in their daily lives. We encourage the believer to pursue a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ by reinforcing biblical principles and spiritual practices.

 Next Steps Ministry Orientation 

The Next Steps Orientation provides basic foundational teachings from the Bible to provide an overview of our ministry, our Core Values (what we believe, preach, and adhere to at First Baptist Church-Pittsburg), and how you can get involved and serve in various areas of our church. All new members and returning members to First Baptist Church, Pittsburg, are urged to attend a five-week Orientation on Sundays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. 

The Five-Week Instructional Themes include:

Part I – Lessons on Assurance

• Assurance of Victory
• Assurance of Forgiveness 
• Assurance of Guidance 

Part II: Lessons on Christian Living

• Putting God First
• His Strength 
• God's Word
• Love
• Giving

• Witnessing

Next Steps Ministry Ambassadors 

Next Steps Ministry Ambassadors embrace and assist new members/returning members in becoming an intricate part of the First Baptist Church community by ensuring they stay connected with the Body of Christ. We encourage and promote regular attendance in orientation classes and church services. 

The Next Steps Ministry Ambassadors are assigned to new or returning members to help cultivate a relational experience during the first six months of joining the First Baptist Church family.  They are responsible for making contact with each new or returning member once per week for the first month and once a month for the following five months. Members are encouraged to ask questions or share concerns during these one-on-one visits. Information will be provided regarding the many First Baptist Church ministries, encouraging believers to serve by sharing their gifts and talents.
